The summer tennis camp secured non-profit status as a 501 (c3) in 1999.  In 2004, we expanded the tennis camp to include two locations and in 2005, we added a third.

The Lundy Foundation "Have a Ball" Free Tennis Camp prides itself as the only completely FREE camp in the New Orleans area.  Although we only are able to offer two days of tennis lessons per child, the Lundy Foundation is proud of its strives in promoting health and fitness and giving young people the opportunity to experience a sport that may not be available to them in the public schools.

In 1999, the New Orleans Recreational Department started charging fees for their camp to meet the changing budgetary needs in the community.  In addition, the years have provided challenges to the Lundy Foundation in terms of camper participation.  One of these elements of change was the high stakes exam.  L.E.A.P. testing has effected the lives of children in the New Orleans community.  Some of the children in our community participate in summer preparatory programs so they can meet the challenge of the test in the upcoming school year.  Some of the children who receive unsatisfactory marks also try to retake the test so they are not kept from accelerating to the next grade level.

The Liberty/Lundy Track Meet also was established as a partnership in 2004 which offers scholarships to track stars in Louisiana.  About forty schools participate a year, we anticipate adding schools each year to increase the level of competition.  The event is held at New Orleans Alerion Field.
